Harrell-Mackenzie Quarter Horses presented a standout offering of well bred, performance and ranch prospect horses for their 11th annual production sale, an event that has become a highlight on the Northwestern U.S. equine marketing calendar. As ranchers, cattlemen and rodeo and USTRC competitors, Harrells and Mackenzies make their living in the saddle and take great pride in the horses they ride. Headquartered out of Baker City, Ore., these programs combine proven performance, cowhorse and speed lines to breed and develop versatile performance horses that excel on the ranch and in the arena.

Bob and Becky Harrell and Wannie and Beth Mackenzie join forces each year to showcase their respective programs in conjunction with the annual Harrell Hereford Ranch bull sale. A capacity crowd of horsemen and cattlemen from 11 states across the U.S. was at ringside to evaluate a top set of 2007 two-year-olds started under saddle plus select program broodmares and fillies. The weekend activities included a pre-sale performance preview staged at Mackenzie Ranch headquarters.

The Harrell and Mackenzie programs headline one of the Northwest's premier stallion batteries backed by bands of high quality broodmares deep in Pitzer Ranch, Sun Frost, Driftwood and Weiscamp bloodlines. Stallions include Payin Doc, a Paid By Chic son out of leading NCHA producer Doc's Serendipity; Billy Red Baron, the OQHA Reserve All-Around Performance Stallion sired by AQHA Superhorse Mr Baron Red; RR Frenchmans Bully, a son of $2 million sire Frenchmans Guy and Star Like Freckles, an own son of leading NCHA/ NRHA/ NRCHA sire Grays Starlight. They produce ranch raised horses whose development and training with sound ground work, rope and cattle work and pasture and calving season riding makes a solid foundation for building great ranch, arena and futurity horses.

A fast paced sale saw active bidding on all classes of horses as ranchers, arena cowboys and futurity trainers competed to invest in the quality, bloodlines and fundamental training that are trademarks of these programs. It was another big day for the Harrell and Mackenzie families who are committed to breeding and developing top notch, all-around performance and ranch horses.
