HARRELL-MACKENZIE QUARTER HORSES
Harrell-Mackenzie Quarter Horses has built areputation as one of the leading, all-around performance and ranch horses programs in the Northwest. HR and OV branded horses have made their mark as champions and money earners competing in USTRC, cowhorse, NIRA, youth rodeo and barrel futurity arenas and on big cow outfits for trainers, competitors and ranchers all across the region.
Bob and Becky Harrell and Wannie and Beth Mackenzie and their families teamed to stage their 15th annual Harrell-Mackenzie Quarter Horse Performance Prospect Sale in conjunction with the Harrell Hereford Ranch bull sale at Harrell headquarters, Baker City, Ore. They showcased a standout crop of 2011 coming two-yr.-old prospect geldings and fillies, one of the finest offerings of futurity, rodeo and ranch prospects to sell in the country this year. The event commenced with a performance preview at Mackenzie Ranch the day prior to the sale when the cowboy trainers presented the young horses under saddle in riding patterns and cow and rope work.
High quality bands of fancy broodmares backed by Pitzer (NE) Two Eyed Jack, Weiscamp (CO) Skipper W and Cowan Bros. (SD) Sun Frost-Driftwood bloodlines are the foundation for these two programs. A high powered stallion battery features Payin Doc (Paid By Chic, World's Greatest Horseman Champion), RR Frenchmans Bully (Frenchmans Guy, $6 million barrel horse sire), Star Like Freckles (Grays Starlight, $11 million NCHA, NRHA, NRCHA sire) and Billy Red Baron (Mr Baron Red, AQHA Superhorse).
A five-state capacity crowd of horsemen from across the West and Northwest was at ringside to invest in these prospects backed by the bloodlines, ranch raising and training foundation to make top arena and ranch horses. It was a good day for the Harrell and Mackenzie families who make their living in the saddle as ranchers, cattlemen and arena competitors and take great pride in the top Quarter Horses they breed and ride.
